Abbeville Christian completed the 2015 season with a 12-1 record. Last year Abbeville Christian captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class A playoffs. They finished region play with a 4-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Generals since the 2000 season. The Abbeville Christian Generals claimed the AISA-A State Championship by defeating Chambers Academy 42-14 in Troy. No team at Abbeville Christian ever won more games in a season than the twelve victories last year. The 550 points scored by the Generals last year were a team record in a single season. Over the past two seasons the Generals have gone 22-5 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Abbeville Christian has gone a combined 43-28. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Abbeville Christian has managed to compile a record of 115-149. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class A and 26th in the AISA. The Generals are led by head coach Ashley Carlisle who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 50-32 over the past seven seasons at Abbeville Christian. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won one region crown with Coach Carlisle. Coach Carlisle has won two state championships at Abbeville Christian, the last coming in 2015. Coach Carlisle's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 50-32 (61.0%). The Abbeville Christian Generals will play in Class A region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Generals remain in A but move from region two over to region one. Abbeville Christian enters the 2016 season with a string of 9 consecutive wins on their home field at Generals Stadium. The Generals enter the season with expectations of not only a region title but reaching the state championship game. They are considered one of the favorites not only in their region but to play in the AISA title game in November. The Generals open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Escambia Academy on Friday, August 19 at Bachelor Field. Last year the Escambia Academy Cougars finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in third place in Class AAA region one. The Cougars lost in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs to Lee-Scott Academy by a score of 35-24. Abbeville Christian and Escambia Academy have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Generals have a 3-4-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2005 with Escambia Academy winning by a score of 41-0. Abbeville Christian returns AISA All-State Senior linebacker Caleb Tyler. He was named to the second team last season. The Generals also return Senior kicker John David Willis.
